Bala Vihar Guidelines
Class Schedule
  • All children must be on time and attend assembly. The assigned Bala Vihar teacher or coordinator must be
    notified of any absences.
  • Most material will be provided to students but additional material can be purchased from the bookstore.
  • Home-based complementary activities may be assigned from time to time to supplement the lessons taught.
Discipline
  • All are expected to behave respectfully towards teachers, adults and other students
  • Children should wear appropriate Indian clothing for Bala Vihar and all functions at CMA.
  • Children should maintain cleanliness of the facility. Any damage to the facility will be appropriately charged.
Parent Responsibilities
  • At least one parent/ guardian must be present at the Bala Vihar location during the session.
  • If the parent/ guardian is unable to attend a particular session due to an emergency, guardianship must be assigned to another adult and the Bala Vihar teacher/ coordinator must be notified.
  • At least one parent must sign up for one or more volunteering opportunities.

For registrations completed by September 19, 2010 a subscription for one of the four magazines from Chinmaya Publications is included. The choices are:

1. BALVIHAR – MONTHLY

An international children's monthly of its 34th year publication by the Central Chinmaya Mission Trust, Mumbai, India. It is full of stories, pictures, puzzles, jokes and articles on Hindu culture and general information. This is an ideal gift to a child you can offer. Every month beginning the magazine will come to you directly from Mumbai.

2. MANANAM - SEMIANNUAL (2 BOOKS)
The Mananam series - Mananam is a Sanskrit word for "Reflection upon the Truth". Mananam is also the name of Chinmaya Mission West publication dedicated to the exposition of Vedanta thought. It contains articles on Vedanta, comparative religion, and a variety of spiritual topics. Published January and July of each year.

3. TAPOVAN PRASAD – MONTHLY
A MAGAZINE THAT 'TALKS' SPIRITUALITY From 1963, this magazine has been in the reading room of Chinmaya devotees the world over, giving them news and views of the Mission's happenings. Now revamped from cover to cover, the recent issues have color spreads, articles on practical Vedanta, interviews with the various mission Swamis and answers to queries of sadhakas. A reader will find that words come alive and speak to him warmly, vibrantly and meaningfully. Please take a look or flip through the pages and linger longer on the uplifting thoughts.

4. CHINMAYA UDGHOSH – MONTHLY
Chinmaya Udghosh, an International Magazine for Youth by Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (CHYK). The magazine is full of inspirational articles, Q & As on spiritual subjects, anecdotes, sayings of great Indian and International leaders and masters, events and activities in Chinmaya Yuva Kendras and hilarious jokes and cartoons. This magazine is now printed and published from Chennai, India.
